This is just a sample , your midwife will have a list of items you may need for your birth and she may have a birthkit or have you purchase one.

Your Things

* Disposable pads or cloth thick pads

* Old T-shirt/nightdress for giving birth in if you are doing a water birth you may want a tighter 1/2 shirt.

* Breast pads

* Nursing bras

* Front-opening nightdress for wearing after birth

* Slippers

For The Birth

* Flannels

* Clean towels

* Hot water bottle

* Accessories to help soothe and refresh you like massage oils, sponge, lip balm, water spray etc.

* A hard-backed chair to sit and lean over.

* Clean towels, sheets and blankets ( about 4 towels Large, and a few blankets)

* Large plastic bowls. ( this is for the placenta and maybe babies bath)
 

* Soap

* A lamp or other source of bright light which will be needed by the midwife to examine you from time to time. A good Flashlight works best!!

* Camera for pictures.

* Water birthing tub ( for water birth)
this will need a cover to keep in warm water and a new garden hose with an adapter for a faucet

* Lots of wash cloths ( 5 dozen )

* A crock pot to heat your cloths in

*Plastic trash bags  ( at least 4)

* 8 receiving Blankets ( these may get bloody so old is good for birth)

*Alcohol

*Plastic drop cloth or 2

* cotton balls

* Baby clothes for after birth ( boy and girl unless you know)

* diapers

*Easy to eat protien available ( eggs , peanutbutter)

* Several kinds of juice or sports drink

* ice available (plenty)

* large cook pot for herbal bath

* herbal bath herbs / birthing tub herbs

* Pen / paper
