This is a great mix for use in a herbal bath for mom to help heal after birth. These herbs have astringent
and antiseptic properties which help to soothe and heal your sore bottom. This helps prevent infections with you and your
baby and speeds up cord drying. This can be used 1 time a day for the first 5 days after birth or until healing is complete.
Hydrotherapy is widely used for pain relief , these herbs help speed the process.
Ingredients
Calendula
flowers (1/4 LB.) Comfrey Leafs (1/4 LB. ) Lavender flowers (1/4 LB. ) Mix the herbs
together in a big bowel. Buy or make out of muslen a 3x6 in pull tie bag or use a sock nylon . ( The bags can be purchased
at any herb store) Stuff this ( a large handfull or fill the 3x6 bag with the herb) and store in an air tight container
away from the light. Make these ahead of time from your birth so that you have this ready . To use : Add about
1 gallon of water to a large cook pot. Once the water boils turn off the heat and add the herbal bag. Cover this for about
an hour and when ready pour this directly into your bath. ( this can sit for up to 24 hours room temp) If you
do not use this right away than you may refridgerate it. You may reuse your bath herb bag for up to 2-3 days.
Place yourself in tub and soak as long as you wish , bring baby in with you for an while and enjoy.
**** helpful
hint ***** This can be made up before birth and you may use the tea to dip sanitary napkins or cloth pads into the tea
mixture. You than place these pads into wax paper and set in freezer make sure they are flat! This gives a great relief
to a swollen bottom right after birth. The hospitals use just ice but these are herbal iced. Throw away the disposable
pad when melted or throw cloth pad into wash as usaual and make up some more with your herbal baths. I would have at
least 20 of these handy, they are a god send to a sore bottom.
